Smoke and Mirrors

Love...

It is deceitful and hurtful

A web of lies

one that will take you on for a ride

that you can never prepare for

It will build you up

Just to tear you back down

and leave you nothing

But a broken image

of what you used to be

Promises

Only leave shattered dreams

and a trail of regrets

of what could have been

And what-ifs

It is a game

not meant for the faint-hearted

that will fill your mind

with make-believe

Nothing but smoke and mirrors

Nothing left to grasp

No hope, no faith

No respite from cruelty

For the world is a desolate place

For both lovers and dreamers
