What You Don’t See

You hear the billowing storm way before you see it
you know the heartbreak is coming long before you feel it
And people tell you it will be kinder if you stepped away
Choose the lesser evil and let her go
for she deserves so much more

none of the drama and complications you bring with you
certainly not the emotional baggage that people have left behind
And you see it flashing right before you
And you wait…

for that last drop of rain
to quench your tired soul
because you know tomorrow is futile
And people always leave

and there is no one in this cruel
and desolate place
That will ever wish
To stay

for each of us were made wretched
Our hearts burnt beyond recognition
feigning strength over indifference
For sometimes all we have is our

SILENCE
The masked peace we carry in our hearts
The bricks that pave the road to our perdition
The walls that build the reservoir of goodbyes

and yet you look back
glance out and hope that beacon still shines
When the rest of your world falls prey
To pandemonium

And you brace yourself
losing your solitude
To the drowning thunder
And the things that go bump

in the night

Today I hated you
Because more than anything
When I needed you most
You shot me down
And brushed me off

Today I hated you
For it finally dawned on me
That I am alone in this
And you are a mere
Bystander

Today I hated you
Because you made it very easy
To say goodbye
To take that leap
And let the darkness win

Today I hated you
For you made it clear
That you would be better off
With your tomorrows

Without me

You feel yourself sinking
Deeper and deeper
Arms restricted by what feels like compact sand
And every breath is a struggle
Like swallowing a jagged sword

And you scream from the top of your lungs
But no one hears
Or listens
Except for the dark knight
That beckons you

To close your eyes
Take that last breath

And end your suffering
